There are lots of great ecology sites that I've only become recently aware of. These include:
1) eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/
This is a citizen science site for bird tracking.
2) The IUCN Redlist: http://www.iucnredlist.org/
3) Map of Life: https://mol.org/
4) Census of Marine Life: http://www.coml.org/ (specifically OBIS, Ocean Biogeographic Information System - http://www.iobis.org/)
Good tutorials for extracting and mapping the spatial data from these sites would be a good next step.

Emissions and Newark
Continuing on my work from before, I wanted to look at TRI in relation to NJ parcels, specifically Newark. As it turns out, in looking at the 2000 data, none of the top 10 emission sources were in Newark, though it is likely Newark was affected by these sources (e.g. PSE&G Hudson Generating Station). Next step, I need to look at 2010, and more recent 2014, TRI sites.
